Edelkrone JibONE V2 Makes The Popular Portable Motorized Jib Even Better

Edelkrone’s original JibONE has been one of their most popular products for a reason – the portable motorized jib brings incredible versatility to small productions, allowing you to do cinematic moving shots without the need for additional manpower or large, expensive rigs. This year, they’re looking to make it even better with an updated model in the Edelkrone JibONE V2.

An improved version of the original JibONE, the motorized jib now comes in a more compact portable size, all while incorporating upgraded electronics that make it easier to program, give it improved wireless range, and manage power a lot better. Whether you’re an existing user of the JibONE or a potential user looking for a capable motorized jib, this thing brings one of the more interesting options in the category.

The Edelkrone JibONE V2 collapses to just 24 inches long, allowing you to squeeze it in larger backpacks during transport. Once unfolded and mounted on a tripod, it gives your camera 20 inches of vertical, horizontal, and diagonal travel, all while keeping it completely level, so your footage can look perfectly smooth as it moves from frame to frame. It’s compatible with all of the outfit’s pan and tilt heads (along with any tripod head), which you can mount either upright or upside down, so you can add those to give it motion control up to five axes to really maximize your cinematography options.

It supports DSLRs and mirrorless cameras up to 11 pounds (total weight of camera, lens, and tripod head), so you should be able to make it work with all but the biggest, most complex setups. To make sure it supports the full range within that maximum weight, it comes with four screw-on counterweights that you simply add to the section opposite the camera and move along the length until it strikes the perfect counterbalance.

The Edelkrone JibONE V2 can be hand-controlled if you want to fully supervise every frame of each shot, although the motorized design has, of course, been made to facilitate control via the smartphone app, where you can program multi-axis motion control to make your job just a little easier. You can also set speed and transition acceleration, among other key parameters, making it possible to shoot dynamic moving scenes while attending to something else entirely. The app also supports programming for motion timelapses, in case you plan to use this for that function. In case you find wired controls more reliable, it’s also compatible with the outfits Edelkrone Link Port cable.

The jib now comes with a built-in OLED screen, so you can see real-time information about what the jib is doing, making it easy to check if you need to do any reprogramming in the middle of a shoot. Other features include improved power management (with power saving modes and auto-power off), CNC-machined aluminum construction, and a weight of 12 pounds. It can be powered either via a wall outlet or two batteries (it supports Canon LP-E6 and NP-F).

The Edelkrone JibONE V2 is available now, priced at $999.
