Want to enjoy big screen viewing at home, don’t want to pay premium for a 100-inch panel? Get a projector. That’s, pretty much, your best bet to get an absurdly large screen at a reasonable price. However, if you want that projector to beam a 4K picture, prices can still go around mid-four figures or higher, which really doesn’t make things any more affordable. That’s what makes the JMGO N1 Ultra an interesting proposition.
A competitively-priced 4K projector, the device gives AV enthusiasts an affordable way to bring cinema-level viewing fidelity to your living room. It’s native 4K, too, complete with a spec sheet you only typically find in more expensive rigs, allowing you to bring some stellar visuals to your home theater setup at a fraction of the cost.
The JMGO N1 Ultra is a home projector that can beam pictures in 4K UHD resolution at sizes of up to 150 inches, so you can get monstrously large pictures with plenty of details. It uses the outfit’s Microstructure Adaptive Laser Control (MALC) technology, which boasts 15 percent higher efficiency when reproducing vivid colors, a 95 percent brightness uniformity, and 95 percent speckle reduction, ensuring it produces stunning pictures all around. According to the outfit, it supports up to 110 percent of the BT.2020 color gamut and HDR10, so this should reproduce colors pretty well, all while coming with 1600:1 contrast ratio.
Some cheaper projectors tend to skip on brightness, requiting you to confine its use in dark rooms with little ambient lighting. That won’t be a problem here, as it comes with 4,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, courtesy of the outfit’s Triple Color Laser Optics engine, ensuring it projects a picture bright enough even with the lights on. Heck, they say you can enjoy this even during daytime with natural light coming through the room, so long as it’s not directly focused on the projection surface.
The JMGO N1 Ultra mounts the projector on a two-axis gimbal that allows it to be rotated 360 degrees, as well as angled up or down, allowing you to beam images to the ceiling if you want to watch a movie while lying on the carpet. It uses that gimbal to perform automatic display corrections, ensuring the image is always aligned and level, making it easy to move the projector from the living room to the bedroom and back, as it doesn’t require an elaborate installation. You can also make manual adjustment controls on the built-in interface (up to 135 degrees vertical and 360 degrees horizontal), in case you want specific settings it doesn’t quite include in its default.
It runs Android TV 11, so you get the full complement of apps and games available on the platform, allowing you to use the projector without having to hook up a separate device. Features include Dolby-certified dual 10W speakers, a MediaTek MT9629 system-on-chip with 2GB of RAM, 32GB Of onboard storage, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, built-in Chromecast, and a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports for connecting wired video sources.
