Revo StoviGo Camping Oven Collapses into a Compact Briefcase

Portable grills that pack down into a briefcase have long been a popular form factor in the category. It’s an effective way to bring a grill to campsites, beaches, and other outdoor spots. The StoviGo takes that design and applies it to ovens, giving folks a convenient way to bring an enclosed cooking appliance on the go.

Measuring just 14.6 x 14 x 4.7 inches (width x height x thicness) in collapsed form, the camping oven takes on the compact dimensions of a briefcase, making it convenient to stash in the boot of the car, then carry by hand to wherever you’re setting up for the day. Whether you’re camping, tailgating, or having a cookout at the beach, this thing lets you have a functional oven on the ready.

The Revo Stovigo is a top-heating propane oven that measures 16 x 14 x 14.6 inches (height x width x depth) when fully assembled. Inside, it has a cooking area of 8 x 11 x 11 inches (height x width x depth), which, the outfit claims, is enough to let it cook a 10-inch pizza, a whole chicken, or four slices of toast in one go. It has five levels of racks inside for placing your grates and tray, so you can put food closer or further to the heat source on top. Both the grates and the tray collapse as part of the briefcase, by the way, so you’ve got the whole thing (except the propane tank, of course) bundled in a pretty portable package.

The oven uses infrared heating elements instead of a traditional burner, by the way, which, we guess, makes perfect sense for a top-heating design. Because of that, the exterior top section of the oven gets very hot, allowing you to use it as a stovetop while you cook other items in the oven. That means, you can cook burgers inside while frying bacon, poaching eggs, or heating soup on top.

The Revo Stovigo boasts temperatures of up to 900 degrees inside the oven, so this can get hot enough to make toasty, crispy pizza dough, among other food items. Outside, the top lid can reach temperatures of up to 400 degrees, which is hot enough to do some light frying and food warming tasks. We’re guessing you can also boil water in it, but it will probably take a bit more time than you’d like.

According to the outfit, the top-heating designs allows the oven to reburn most of the rising gases inside the cooking chamber, which allows it to cut smoke by over 90 percent, allowing for an overall cleaner cooking experience. The whole thing, by the way, weighs just under 16 pounds, so you can comfortably carry it in one hand when folded into its briefcase form. How long does it take to assemble? The outfit’s YouTube channel has a demonstration videos that shows it put together in around a minute. We’re guessing most people will take just a bit longer until they get the hang of it. Either way, this looks pretty easy to use.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Revo Stovigo. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $299.
